Newrest and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) are entering a new chapter in their partnership. Originally set to run until 2029, the contract has been extended by an additional three years, securing the collaboration through 2032.

Since 2022, Newrest has provided catering services for SAS flights departing from Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, supporting more than 11,000 flights every month across Scandinavia. Over the past four years, the partnership has been built on operational excellence, reliability, and a shared commitment to continuously enhancing the passenger experience.

Investing in the future

To support the continued growth of SAS, Newrest has recently commissioned a new fully automated pick-and-pack warehouse in Copenhagen. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to streamline loading preparation, increase operational efficiency, and strengthen service reliability across one of Scandinavia’s busiest aviation hubs.

The investment reflects a long-term vision for sustainable growth. With Copenhagen Airport expected to continue expanding in the coming decades, Newrest is proactively developing the infrastructure and capabilities required to support future demand while maintaining the highest service standards.

A shared culinary vision

The partnership between SAS and Newrest is built not only on operational excellence, but also on a shared ambition to elevate the onboard dining experience. Since the launch of “Flavors by SAS” in 2025, Newrest has supported this vision by leveraging its global culinary ecosystem

Across the Group, the international Chefs Unlimited community brings together culinary experts from different regions of the world, creating opportunities to exchange ideas, techniques, and trends. These collaborations are further strengthened through regular chef seminars and training sessions, which serve as key moments for innovation and best-practice sharing.

This collective expertise is supported by Winrest, Newrest’s ERP platform, which gives teams access to a wide library of multicultural recipes and culinary content developed throughout the Group.

By combining local execution with global culinary knowledge, Newrest is able to support airline partners such as SAS in delivering menus that reflect evolving passenger expectations while maintaining consistency, quality, and operational efficiency.

This shared commitment to culinary excellence was recently recognized at the Onboard Hospitality Awards 2026, where Newrest and SAS received the Highly Commended distinction for their European Business Class hot meal offering, highlighting the quality and innovation of the service developed jointly by both companies.

A trusted partner for global airlines

Through its strong presence across Northern Europe and its integrated catering model, Newrest provides airlines with end-to-end expertise across the entire catering value chain. The extension of this partnership with SAS reinforces Newrest’s ability to support leading international carriers through operational excellence, customer proximity, and continuous innovation.

As SAS looks ahead to its next phase of growth, Newrest remains committed to delivering the quality, flexibility, and reliability that have made this partnership a success.
