The event was initiated by Mr. Pauly’s preamble in bringing back to his audience’s memory what this initiative is about and the importance in continuing the groundwork that was started in 2015. “The Healthy Living 2016 is scheduled to last for a year’s time and aims to be deployed across the sites where Newrest Wacasco operates. This year, the topics of discussion will aim to raise awareness on subject like balance diet, body hydration, the necessity to practice exercise and reducing the consumption of oil & salt”, he confirmed.
Mr. Pauly stated: “We want to build momentum from year to year with this initiative started in 2015. The intention behind is to assist the staff, guests and patrons on-site in adopting a healthier living behavior. Being a responsible partner, this inventiveness demonstrates the image of Newrest Wacasco’s as an active member in the world of catering”.
Dr. Samia Al Ghannami, the event’s guest of honor added: “I have attended the first part in 2015 and pleased to re-attend this year because this ingenuity falls well in line with the practices that the Ministry of Health is trying to achieve from its various collaborations with multiple local and international food suppliers”. “Standardizing the nutritional facts on imported products and reducing the level of added-salt to 30% is our ultimate target”, Dr. Samia affirmed.
The speech was continued by Mr. Matthieu Andrieux, Newrest Wacasco’s Deputy General Manager, who highlighted the achievements that were gathered from the previous campaign. Matthieu confirmed that “more than 2000 team members contributed in various sports activities and 673 medical consultations were executed across the 105 sites where Newrest Wacasco operates”.
And finally, Ms. Marie Chatelier, Newrest Wacasco’s Operations Supervisor and Head of Nutrition, got a glimpse about this year’s campaign and the multiple topics that will be covered.
The event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and followed by a buffet of healthy snacks prepared by Newrest Wacasco’s culinary crew and a vitals check-up counter organized by Burjeel Medical Center.
