In Gabon, the drilling actors count on Newrest’s remote site management control

Newrest is strengthening its position in the remote site management in the oil sector. In Gabon, both onshore and offshore drilling platforms are turning to the Group’s varied skills. Three contracts demonstrate the interest of this segment for the catering and hotel services of the multi-sector catering company. The wide range of services on offer is appealing. Over time, the Group has become a key player in the provision of services to oil companies and onshore and offshore subcontractors. Amongst them are Valaris in Angola or Vantage in Gabon.

Borr Drilling renews its offshore drilling remote site management collaboration

Newrest has extended its long and successful collaboration with Borr Drilling in Gabon. The self-elevating drilling rig “Norve” continues to rely on the quality of Newrest services.

In Gabon, the partnership with Borr Drilling extends from July 2019. The remote site management activity with this player consists of catering and hotel services on its platform. It is hosting more than a hundred people on board.

Due to the health crisis, the market has slowed down in this sector. Drilling activities were suspended since April 2020. The “NORVE” had been stagnating in the bay of Port-Gentil with a dozen residents and 2 Newrest employees for over a year.

In this complicated climate, the oil and gas company BW Energy has launched an offshore drilling campaign in Gabon. It aims to drill the Hibiscus extension appraisal well using the “Norve” self-elevating drilling platform. Borr Drilling naturally approached Newrest for its expertise in remote site management. The company reactivated the contract. A great proof of confidence from this partner. Newrest is thus positioned in the ecosystem of the end customer BW Energy.

Total recommends Newrest’s services to ABC MARITIME for the remote site management of a hotel barge

Newrest has already proven its knowledge in the remote site management and more particularly hotel barges in Africa. The hotel barges management with up to 600 people on board is part of the company’s expertise. The “Lancelot” for Intership, or the “African Lifter” and the “African Worker” for Interoil, are major examples of this type of service.

Total is currently mobilising the “Elisa”, a 138-person hotel barge. This mobilisation helps dealing with the surplus of people in Gabon, following its technical shutdown. On the recommendation of the oil giant, ABC MARITIME is turning to Newrest for catering and hotel management contract. The agreement includes a cleaning team as well as a cook to take care of the drillers confined on board. The contract was initially fixed for a period of two months.

Caroil Gabon SA renews its request for onshore drilling services

Newrest is historically linked to Caroil Gabon SA and their onshore drilling activity. The Group has taken over the management of their adjoining Well Control Training Center since mid-April. The contract is based on catering for the centre’s trainees. This includes a dozen meals per week. The centre can accommodate around thirty trainees, excluding health crises. Newrest is thus renewing its relationship with Caroil and reinforcing its remote site management services for onshore drilling rig operators in Gabon.
