Plympton Farms & Newrest commit to local and responsible purchasing in Guyana
America
Guyana, a known territory
Newrest has been providing catering and related services for Guyana’s offshore platforms since 2019. The group is also present in the concessionary catering market in collaboration with the Georgetown Hotel School.
For several years, the group has been committed to the 9 pillars of its CSR charter, including local and responsible purchasing. Regarding fruits and vegetables, the objective in Guyana is to reach 98% of local production by 2027.
To reach this objective, Newrest Guyana has surrounded itself with local actors, such as Plympton Farms.
Plympton Farms, an essential local partner
In Guyana, Newrest focuses on working with local suppliers to foster the local economy while initiating innovative and sustainable solutions to develop the market potential.
This tripartite project between Newrest, SBM and Plympton Farms was created to ensure a reliable source of fresh fruits and vegetables for crews on offshore structures in Guyana.
This supply chain will reduce the share of imported fruits and vegetables from 9% to 3% by 2027, a 60% reduction in the import share of this segment.

Newrest Guyana is also involved in the social aspect of the group’s CSR charter through an ambitious training program within the framework of the nationalization of the team.
