Newrest Angola continues to excel in safety and operational performance. Recent achievements highlight the Group’s commitment to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards in offshore sites.
Newrest Angola recognized for outstanding HSSE performance
In March 2025, SBM Offshore awarded the “Best HSSE Performance of the Year 2024” to the Newrest Angola team members.
The Group places QHSE at the heart of its priorities when operating in remote sites. It is precisely to ensure quality, health, and safety at work that the group created the I Care program.
Newrest has a history of distinguishing itself in safety performance. At Total’s Girassol site in Angola, the Group has maintained an impressive record of zero Lost Time Injuries (LTI) since beginning operations in 2018. This achievement further demonstrates Newrest’s unwavering commitment to the safety of its teams and the secure management of operations on highly sensitive sites.

A new contract with Sapura Energy, an important actor of the offshore sector
As a recognition of its expertise in the offshore sector in Angola, Newrest has won a new contract with Sapura Energy, one of the global leaders in offshore integrated services.
This contract began with the successful mobilization of the vessel in Congo (Pointe Noire), followed by a towing phase to Angola (Soyo), where it will support the Quiluma and Maboqueiro project. The priorities of this operation were a safe mobilization and a smooth transition.
This short-term contract was yet another success for the Newrest team in Angola. The catering team even received a letter of appreciation regarding the services provided on board. This document mentions, among other things, “the outstanding service capabilities”, the efficient resource coordination, the optimized logistics support, the cross-cultural collaboration, and the professionalism of the catering team.
Newrest signed a partnership with McDermott
On March 21, 2025, Newrest Angola embarked on a new adventure.
Newrest’s Angolan team closed the first contract with McDermott. Their ship, LV108, came from Batam, Indonesia, to provide services to TotalEnergies for the Begonia project. This project was developed with innovative engineering capable of reducing costs by up to 20% to sustain Angola’s production by optimizing existing assets and resources.
The collaborators began by boarding in Walvis Bay, Namibia, where they were able to familiarize themselves with the ship and its sailors before taking over the reins of service as soon as they docked in Luanda at the SONILS port.
From securing prestigious awards for HSSE performance to winning significant contracts with industry leaders like Sapura Energy and McDermott, the Newrest Angola team’s commitment to quality, health, safety, and environmental standards is evident. These achievements not only highlight Newrest Angola’s expertise and operational efficiency but also reinforce its reputation as a trusted partner in the offshore industry.
