Newrest, the French catering specialist with 1 million meals served each day, commits to procuring chicken eggs (in shells and liquid) from farms that use alternative caging methods between now and 2025. This commitment, unique in the airline catering sector, constitutes a major step in the strategy of the Group towards sustainable development. Going forward, Newrest undertakes only to procure eggs from uncaged hens from local producers in each country where the Group is present.
Aware that consumers are more and more attentive to the provenance and production conditions of food, Newrest and its international procurement department are committed to a comprehensive and rigorous CSR approach. The group, which is present in 50 countries, is thus the first airline caterer to commit to a process of global procurement of eggs from uncaged hens.
“With this commitment, we hope to create a global dynamic with the caterers and stimulate a process of collaboration with our partners to encourage and actively contribute to the progressive evolution of the sector as a whole. As we want to be a responsible caterer and remain sensitive to the messages of the associations supporting the Open Wings Alliance, we will be assisted, at the global level, by stakeholder associations concerned, in order to promote the overall implementation of our CSR policy and to enable us to achieve our objectives”, declares Olivier Sadran, Co-President and founder of Newrest.
