Newrest’s expansion in the USA

America

Raleigh open

From a small unit in Raleigh Durham to Delta’s main hub, Newrest conquered the American inflight market in just a few years.

Newrest in the United States of America: A meteoric rise

Newrest USA was established in 2017, beginning with 2 units in Raleigh-Durham and Salt Lake City, both launched in 2018. Recognizing Newrest’s success in Europe and Asia, Delta decided to challenge the group’s capabilities in various sites at first.

In 2021, after demonstrating its full range of capabilities, Newrest became the caterer for Delta’s main hub in Atlanta. Amid the pandemic, while many companies were downsizing, Newrest expanded and began serving the world’s busiest airport (ATL), launching at the same time a new unit in Houston.

Hub management in the USA: Constantly improving and reaching excellence

Caterer of the year

Since Newrest took over, Salt Lake City’s hub has been nominated Caterer of the year in 2022. To maintain high quality and strengthen its relationship with Delta, weekly culinary exercises and food tastings are organized in the units.

The units all have an excellent track record for food safety, and there is almost no wastage.

A cutting-edge kitchen lab

Atlanta’s unit has become a true local laboratory where Newrest’s teams innovate, test, and refine their food offerings to ensure greater flexibility and to adapt to the various expectations inherent in business aviation.

Newrest is deeply committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The group is attentive to its clients’ needs and dedicated to offering the best culinary experience for highly demanding passengers.

Ramp safety, staff training and automation

Newrest prioritizes not only food safety and quality but also ramp safety and training. For employees to be efficient, they must perform their tasks perfectly and swiftly.

This is particularly important in Atlanta’s airport, which handles more than 450 flights per day. With planes constantly landing and departing, operations need to be precisely timed. If there are any changes, Newrest’s teams must adapt and react accordingly.

To keep up with this fast-paced environment, Newrest has implemented an automated schedule of employees. From the kitchen to the plane, teams follow a strict schedule with specific steps such as KRT (kitchen ready time), DRT (dock ready time) or KAT (kitchen arrival time). This includes a meal signing process, and drivers are held accountable for any mistakes and delays. If they arrive after the KRT, they must explain why. The entire process is recorded, and data is automatically sent to the shareholders.

The integration of robotics in our units, supported by business intelligence and machine learning, is transforming our production processes by directly connecting our clients’ data to our operations, significantly increasing the efficiency and performance of our operations.

An impressive on-time performance!

Despite all these challenges, Atlanta boasts an on-time performance rate of 99.97. It’s not only the busiest airport but also the best unit!

Raleigh Durham’s unit has reached remarkable results as well: 14,000 flights without delay and 18 months of on-time performance.

Humility, simplicity, responsibility, efficiency: Newrest’s credo

Newrest earned Delta’s confidence through transparency and by providing the right end-experience to the customer.

The group is developing quickly because it’s proactive rather than reactive; its leaders take initiative. They look at the long term, not just the immediate future. They anticipate risks and address potential issues before they arise. This forward-thinking approach helps Newrest achieve its goals. The company prioritizes what’s best for both itself and its partners.

Newrest owns its mistakes, learns from them, and strives to do better. The group is committed to continuous improvement.

Newrest has been in the United States for less than 10 years and has already accomplished a lot. The group has demonstrated its ability to handle a high volume of flights, meet deadlines, and suggest improvements that help clients and increase customer satisfaction. Even after reaching its goals, Newrest continues to innovate and exceed expectations.

All units are progressing at an impressive pace. Salt Lake City’s unit exemplifies this with its new Delta routes to Korea and catering services for external companies like Hawaiian Airlines.
