Innovation at the heart of rail services: The Sucy Digital Factory
Europe

Innovation is a key strategic driver for Newrest. Following the opening in March 2024 of its first Digital Factory in Paris-Orly (Wissous), dedicated to Transavia, the Group is taking a new step in 2025 with the inauguration of a second site in Sucy, this time fully dedicated to the rail sector.
A new era for rail catering
Designed as a hub of advanced technologies, the Sucy-en-Brie Digital Factory is based on data analysis and business intelligence. Through advanced automation and the integration of robotics, it ensures reliable, secure, and optimized production at every stage.
Inspired by the model developed in Wissous for the inflight sector, this new unit has been adapted to the specificities of rail. It reflects Newrest’s ambition to reinvent the onboard catering experience by combining industrial performance with high service quality standards.
Automated logistics serving performance
Efficiency in this Digital Factory relies on a seamless organization where advanced technologies and human expertise work in harmony.
Upon train return, unsold products are automatically sorted. Robots identify incomplete drawers and direct them to replenishment areas. There, operators scan the products to speed up counting and detect any missing items, in a process that combines automation with human oversight.
The drawers are then returned to the robots, which store them in departure trolleys. These same robots load the rolling trolleys and prepare the train loads, automatically applying the corresponding loading label.
Finally, a compliance team performs a final check before the trolleys are dispatched to the trains, ensuring the reliability of the entire process.
Tangible benefits for data management
Automation enables better data utilization, facilitating decision-making.
It also handles physically demanding tasks, such as transporting heavy boxes or drawers containing cans or bottles. This support reduces strain on teams, promotes better posture, and offers more ergonomic workstations.
By freeing staff from repetitive tasks, it allows them to focus on higher value-added missions, thereby enhancing overall efficiency.
This Digital Factory stands as a true innovation lab for Newrest. Combining cutting-edge technologies with human expertise ensures the best possible response to client needs.
