As part of its ongoing innovation strategy, Newrest is strengthening its position as a leader in digital transformation within the inflight sector. The installation of a virtual reality (VR) room at the Digital Factory in Wissous, France, illustrates this commitment to combining industrial performance with operational excellence.
Virtual simulation: A lever for excellence in QHSSE practices
Designed as an immersive training tool, this VR room is part of a broader initiative to evolve QHSSE processes.
Using a virtual reality headset and interactive controllers, employees can now train in a simulated environment that closely replicates real working conditions on an airport tarmac. The goal is to anticipate field training and allow learners to repeat movements and processes as many times as needed, safely.
The scenarios cover a wide range of situations: from wearing personal protective equipment to managing logistics on the tarmac, including administrative procedures in the office—every step must be carried out meticulously by drivers.
Virtual reality: A driver for on-the-ground learning
This technology enables rapid and safe upskilling of employees while reducing the risks associated with field training. It also promotes better knowledge retention thanks to the cognitive engagement offered by virtual immersion.
Like GEPSA, which has already trained nearly 1,000 people across France using virtual reality systems, Newrest is betting on interactivity to firmly instill the right professional reflexes.
The VR room in Wissous thus represents a major step forward in the digitalization of internal training. It reflects Newrest’s commitment to placing people at the heart of technological innovation by equipping its teams with the most effective tools to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency across all its sites. The group also plans to install similar rooms at other locations, including Roissy-Charles de Gaulle.
