Newrest at the heart of a student architecture competition

Recently, Highpoint School East organized an architecture competition in which students were challenged to build a functional bridge model. Drawing on their trusted relationship with the school, several members of the Newrest Houston management team were invited to sit on the judging panel. The event, which lasted nearly four hours, brought together participants from multiple grade levels.

For our teams, it was a truly rewarding experience. Watching these young minds at work and witnessing their creativity was a genuine source of inspiration. At the end of the competition, our judges had the opportunity to engage with the students, ask them thoughtful questions, and positively influence how they envision their future in the professional world.

This kind of initiative not only demonstrates our commitment to investing in youth, but also reflects our desire to build a lasting relationship with Highpoint School East in order to support students facing difficulties.

Long-standing acts of solidarity

Newrest’s commitment doesn’t stop there. As an engaged local player, Newrest Houston is dedicated to taking an active part in the life of the school. Over the past two years, our teams have sponsored turkey giveaways for Thanksgiving.

This celebration, a true institution in the United States, is dedicated to gratitude and sharing. This solidarity initiative gives students the opportunity to mark this important occasion with dignity, surrounded by their families and close friends.

Additionally, to strengthen this partnership, we have already proposed several options to the school for the future. Discussions are currently underway to establish new initiatives — so stay tuned!

Why Highpoint School East?

Highpoint School East is a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) that provides a safe and highly structured learning environment for middle and high school students facing challenges.

Thanks to small class sizes that ensure an excellent student-to-teacher ratio, the curriculum aims to equip students with the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially. The school’s approach is grounded in trust and emotional support. Its programs are designed to teach self-discipline, encourage open dialogue, and empower students to make better decisions for their future.
