Newrest, a committed player in the world of sport, is proud to support Sport for Future, a one-of-a-kind event in France that brings together the sports community around climate issues. Organized by kitesurfer Armelle Courtois (Vice World Champion in kitesurfing) and canoeist Martin Thomas (World Champion and Olympic finalist in canoe slalom), this flagship event—launched in 2022—returns for a fourth edition, now expanded to five days. The event will take place from September 2 to 6 in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc.
An event in the heart of the glaciers to raise awareness
Sport for Future immerses elite athletes in a transformative experience at the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif. Through hands-on workshops, expert-led talks, glacier-based sports activities, and meaningful exchanges, athletes are invited to reflect on their role in combating climate change: how to adapt their training, choose responsible sponsors, and become inspiring role models—especially for younger generations.
Among the athletes who have already taken part are Xavier Thévenard (trail running – three-time UTMB winner), Noémie Equy (freeride snowboarding – 2024 World Champion), Kilian Jornet (trail & ski mountaineering – global trail-running icon), Chloé Trespeuch (snowboardcross – Olympic silver medalist), and Laura Tarantola (rowing – Olympic silver medalist).
A committed and inclusive 2025 program
- 3 days dedicated to athletes: glacier hiking, ice climbing, climate mural workshops, carbon and water footprint assessments, media training, speed dating with environmental organizations, and talks by glaciologists, economists, and experts in sustainable sponsorship
- 1 day open to the public: conferences, workshops, photo exhibitions, film screenings, athlete meet-and-greets, and the inauguration of a protected educational zone in partnership with the city of Chamonix
- 1 day for partners and key stakeholders in sport: awareness-building activities for employees and decision-makers (federations, sponsors, institutions), including glacier-based experiences and collaborative workshops to envision the future of sustainable sport
Under the patronage of the French Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Sport for Future is supported by numerous partners including Mirova Foundation, Compagnie du Mont-Blanc, Millet®, UBAM, and of course Newrest, which proudly shares the event’s values of responsibility and commitment.
