Exciting news: A new chapter begins for Newrest Zambia! Newrest successfully mobilized its first mining contract in the country.

Newrest’s teams are very proud to start this adventure with Mingomba Mining Limited, a joint venture between KoBold Metals and ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc.

The company uses cutting-edge exploration technology, such as AI, and employs top Zambian talent. It is located in the Copperbelt which, as its name indicates, is a region rich in copper.

Newrest offers top services of catering designed specifically for the mining site. The team delivers delicious meals for the workers of the mine offering menu diversity every day from vegetarian meals to multicultural cuisine.

The group also supported its client to set up a full catering area, from kitchen to storage, adapted to the needs and environment of the project.

Ensuring local content

As with its other remote sites, Newrest is committed to encourage local content. Most of the team members have been recruited from the community.

Also, 80% of the products are sourced from suppliers located in the Copperbelt, with the remaining 20% coming from national suppliers. Newrest also supports CSR programs deployed by Mingomba Mining Ltd by buying vegetable produced within the exploration campus at the site’s livelihood garden.

Favoring local content is a total part of all the mobilization of the group, it helps support the economic and social development of the communities and it reduces the environmental impact on activities.

It also allows Newrest’s teams to increase their operational efficiency and resilience, by ensuring reliable supply chains, fostering long-term partnerships, and adapting to local needs and expectations.

This isn’t Newrest’s first venture in Zambia; the company was already established through its inflight services operating for major airlines companies. We hope that this collaboration will be the first of many in the exploration and mining sector!
