Foro de desarrollo sostenible

On Friday, April 4, Newrest took part in the eighth meeting of the Forum of Latin American and Caribbean Countries on Sustainable Development, held at the headquarters of ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean).

Participation in the Forum

Newrest was invited to the 8th Forum on Sustainable Development by the Occupational Safety Institute (IST) and ECLAC to speak during the session “T 3xS – Role of the Private Sector in Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

It was an opportunity to share the group’s vision and commitment to inclusive, responsible, and sustainable development.

Newrest’s CSR vision and commitments

Giselle Mastrandrea, Director of Sustainable Development and Governance at Newrest Chile, spoke to detail the group’s goals and challenges, in line with the principles of the Newrest CSR charter and the “Be the Change” strategy.

Among the key topics highlighted, the teams emphasized Newrest’s approach to health and safety through the “I Care” program, in collaboration with IST, promoting a culture of prevention and safe habits across all operations.

Newrest also demonstrated its commitment to diversity and talent development, with a female workforce reaching 63% over the past year—an achievement widely praised by the audience.

With only five years remaining before the 2030 Agenda deadline, just 23% of the goals are likely to be achieved at the current pace, according to the latest regional monitoring report. The challenge is to accelerate progress through more ambitious policies, stronger collaborative partnerships, and entrepreneurial leadership committed to real transformation.
