2020 Vendée Globe: Fabrice Amedeo on an IMOCA with foils wearing Newrest colors
Europe
Fabrice Amedeo is having a studious and happy 2017 autumn. After a summer spent finalizing the last formalities, he has been, for a few days, the lucky owner of a new boat. With a Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe, a Transat Jacques Vabre and a Vendée Globe aboard its current monohull, Newrest – Brioche Pasquier, formerly Gitana 80, the sailor had a desire for a change of setting and progression. The opportunity to fulfill its aspirations has recently come by purchasing “No Way Back”, the foam monohull with which its former owner, Pieter Hereema, had completed the solo round-the-world. It is at the helm of a last generation boat Fabrice Amedeo will line up in the 2018 season, with the participation in the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe as a central piece. In the meantime, he will start his last race on board his loyal companion being at the departure of the Transat Jacques Vabre on November 5th, with Giancarlo Pedote. Then, he will hand the keys to Romain Attanasio, his new owner.
Prepared thoroughly by the team of Antoine Mermod, the new boat will be launched from one day to the other at Trinité-sur-Mer for technical validation sailing. It will then be transported to Lorient where it will spend the fall while waiting for a launch in early 2018 and first training offshore.
Changing the mount, but not the guideline
If Fabrice Amedeo passes a milestone by entering the closed circle of foiler skippers, his deep ambitions do not change. Thus, he tackles with humility this new challenge and especially the deep desire to continue sharing with the greatest number, just like he was able to deliver on the last Vendée Globe.
“I feel like I have a new dream and at the same time, to have lived a second Vendée Globe this summer with the purchase of this boat, says Fabrice Amedeo. This entrepreneurial challenge was made possible thanks to Newrest which I will proudly wear the colors on the new boat, but also thanks to all my other partners who have re-engaged until 2021. Their support and sometimes their help in meeting the demands of the banks made me realize the strong link this first Vendée Globe had established between us. I am getting for a new Everest with the desire to work enormously and progress to bring me up to this incredible machine. However, the competition will never erase my desire to continue to tell my adventures and share the magic of the sea with the general public“.
Newrest, a continuing fidelity
In order to carry out this ambitious undertaking and pursue its oceanic adventures, the sailor can rely on the loyalty of his partners. Newrest Group, alongside him since 2014, has decided to confirm its support until the next Vendée Globe. Newrest’s will is to close the loop a second time with the one who shares the values of a company with 29,500 employees and present in 49 countries around the world. “We are delighted to extend the partnership with Fabrice Amedeo to the 2020 Vendée Globe, a reflection of Newrest’s long-term commitments in all of its projects. The new dimension taken by this adventure, marked by innovation and determination, perfectly matches the values conveyed by all Newrest employees in our various catering businesses“, confirms Olivier Sadran, co-CEO of Newrest Group.
