Newrest CDG: opening of a new production and logistics unit

Europe

The first flights have been fully catered from the new kitchen on Saturday February 10th, 2018.

On July 13th, 2017, early in the morning, Newrest Paris CDG’s inflight catering unit has been totally destroyed by a fire caused by an electrical incident. There has luckily been no injury or fatality. The Logistic Center and fleet of trucks were not affected by this disaster.

Faced with this unprecedented event, Newrest’s crisis management team has been immediately activated and has implemented all measures to ensure, in the middle of the very high summer season, the continuity of service delivery to our Customers, mobilizing its Le Bourget and Paris Orly teams for support.

One of the major points of this Business Continuity Plan was to lease a production center, which has proven to be a significant support and which was operational on Monday July 24th after obtaining all the necessary approvals from the competent public and airport authorities to operate. All of our CDG operations have been managed from this temporary unit until the opening of our new CDG unit.

Along with our short-term plans, our Technical Teams have also worked to find a new location and launched the construction of a new unit in order to ensure as quickly as possible the re-launch of normal operations to our clients and partners.Newrest France Le Bourget centre opérationnel CDGThe selected 7,500 m2 building featuring 10 loading docks is located in the city of Compans, less than 15 minute drive from the entrance to the restricted area of the CDG airport. The construction works of the new inflight kitchen have started early October 2017 and will be fully completed by the first half of February 2018.

This challenge has been overcome by our Parisian colleagues with a fantastic team spirit and the first flights have been fully catered from the new kitchen on Saturday February 10th.

We gratefully thank our Clients, Partners and Staff for the continuous and understanding support brought to us during this very difficult period.

Newrest is convinced that this new state-of-the-art inflight kitchen, which combines within the same location our food and logistic activities, with a double flow (Halal and non-Halal), will be a great asset for the Group in order to deliver our clients a great quality of services at the utmost efficient cost.
