Fabrice Amedeo at the Armen Race’s start, first race of the season

Europe

A few days after the launch of his monohull, Fabrice Amedeo is preparing to resume ocean race in competition mode on the occasion of the first event of the season, the ArMen Race. On May 25, at 4 pm, the skipper of Newrest – Brioche Pasquier will start from La Trinité-sur-Mer for a loop of just over 300 miles. To accompany him, he will be able to rely on a team of shock composed of Yvon Berrehar, its technical director, Julien Romagné, his boat captain, and the navigator Romain Attanasio, with whom he has forged friendly ties on the last Vendée Globe.

It’s time for Fabrice Amedeo to return to business, whom will be back with ocean race tomorrow, on the ArMen Race. On the program, a loop more than 300 miles between La Trinité-sur-Mer, the Western Sein and the Yeu Island, before a return to the Morbihan harbor. An ideal training for the one who has remained ashore since his return from the Vendée Globe last February: “I have not sailed in Imoca since I arrived at the Sables d’Olonne, except of course the return convoy between the Vendée and Brittany, confirms Fabrice. This break was important because it made it possible to bring back envy. I am delighted to restart this season.

And for his comeback, it is in crew that the skipper of Newrest – Brioche Pasquier will resume the sea to battle against the four Imoca also in contention. On board, he will have the pleasure to rely on Yvon Berrehar and Julien Romagné, respectively technical director and boat captain of the project. A hard core reinforced by the presence of Romain Attanasio, competitor of Fabrice on the last solo round of the world: “I sympathized with Romain on the last Vendée Globe and I offered him to race with us. The idea is really to have fun, to sail well, thoroughly!“. An ideal program and objectives which we cannot doubt they will be held, despite predicted calm wind conditions. “It should be tactical and delicate with lots of maritime traffic on the road” Fabrice Amedeo predicts. Delicate, but exciting!
